Cancer refers to a group or a collection of damaged genes. There are many different types of cancer and many different causes.

There are factors or substances that cause cancer in the body. These are called carcinogens. In this section, we want to let you know some of the causes of cancer.

  • Lifestyle

Biological Factor

Some types of cancer runs in families. This is when cancerous genes are passed on from parents to offspring. This is why it is very important to know your family history and all related diseases.

Also, as we grow old, some tissues and cells get damaged and are not able to be replaced. It can be said that, age is one of the risk factors of cancer.

Environmental Factors

There are many environmental factors that can result in cancer. Some of these include exposure to UV radiations and other, smoke and other chemicals that can damage or alter the genes. These substances that cause cancer are called carcinogens.

Mostly, smoke or chemicals from industries if not disposed off properly can cause cancer to the body.

Lifestyle Factors

There are some lifestyle routines that can cause cancer or the damage of genes in the body. These lifestyle causes include:

Tobacco : Smoking is believed to be the main cause of lung cancer. Research shows that smoking cigarette destroys the tissues and cells in the body with time. The body is designed to repair worn-out or damaged tissues. Regular smoking destroys cells in the body to the point that your system becomes weak and is not able to repair the tissues anymore. This develops into cancer.

Alcohol: Observations show that, heavy consumption of alcohol is the main lead cause of stomach cancer. This is because heavy drinking can weaken the immune system. This reduces the way the body repairs damaged cells and leads to cancer.

Diet: Our diet contributes much to our health than we think. Certain foods can cause the cells to damage in the body.

These foods are:

microwaved popcorn, grilled chicken, barbecued foods, some canned foods, soda and carbonated drinks, junk foods and many more unhealthy foods.

Over Exposure to UV radiation: Too much exposure to UV radiation from the sun can destroy some genes in the body causing cancer.

Refined Products: Refined products such as sugar and flour can be another cause of cancer when consumed often. This is because all the nutrient value is being removed. These food products are also bleached with chemicals that contains some amount of carcinogens.

Prevention Of Cnacer

  • Limit of avoid smoking to reduce the risk of lung cancer.
  • Avoid heavy drinking of alcohol.
  • Do not spend much time in the sun
  • Do not spend too much time at radiation zones.
  • Eat Organic foods.
