Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive only. It is not use to terminate an already existing pregnancy. This is a very common morning after pill which is used to prevent pregnancy when taken within 72 hours. It is estimated that, postinor 2 is effective 85% of the time when taken within 72 hours, 95% of the time when taken within 24 hours. It is one of the safest ways of preventing pregnancy after unprotected intercourse.
How to take Postinor 2
- The emergency contraceptive is sometimes single pill solution. Take 1 (one) pill within 72 hours (3 days) of having unprotected s3x. The sooner you take the pill, the more effective it will work.
Some women vomit after taking the pill. When that happens within 3 hours, you will have to take another one.
- For two tablets Version
For the two tablet version, take one tablet as soon as possible. Then take the second one exactly 12 hours after the first one.
Side effects of Postinor 2
Side effects of the emergency contraceptive includes:
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Sometimes diarrhoea.
- It sometimes causes tenderness of the breast.
- Change in menstrual cycle and flow. It can sometimes change how heavy or lighter you flow would be.
How often you can take postinor 2 pills
The emergency contraceptive pills are not to be taken regularly. Taking it regularly might make you loose track of your menstrual cycle.
